Ackawi cheese

Ackawi cheese (ArB|جبن عكاوي) is a white cow's milk cheese, native to Palestine. The city of Acre (Arabic: Akka) is where the cheese gets its name from the Arabic "ackawi" ("from akka"). It is also spelled Akawi and Akawieh. Ackawi is a Middle Eastern style of cheese. It is a soft white cheese with a smooth texture and a mild salty taste. Commonly used as a table cheese, it is considered good by itself or paired with fruit.

This cheese is now produced in many countries, and is especially popular around the Middle East.
