Timothy J. Davlin has been the mayor of the U.S. city of
Springfield, Illinois since April 2003. Though the office is officiallynon-partisan , the Illinois capital has a strong tradition of partisanship, even for municipal races, and both major parties ofSangamon County endorse candidates. Davlin has the backing of the Democrat Party.Background
He started in the financial and insurance business in 1981 when he became a Registered Representative with
AXA Advisor, LLC . He has provided financial products and services to individuals and businesses. He sits on the Board of Directors of theMid-West Truckers Association , Inc. and is a Member of the Board of Directors of theIllinois Municipal League and theGreater Springfield Chamber of Commerce .Davlin is a
Sacred Heart-Griffin High School alumnus and holds an Associate Arts Degree from Springfield College and attended Sangamon State University (now known as theUniversity of Illinois at Springfield ). He is a member of St. Agnes' Parish in Springfield, and has served on various fundraising committees during the construction on the church and its school. He is a member of the Springfield Motor Boat Club and Illini Country Club.Davlin participated in the widely-covered presidential candidacy announcement of
Barack Obama , at theOld State Capitol State Historic Site on February 10, 2007. The mayor was elected to a second term on April 19, 2007. However, the Republican-endorsed candidates unexpectedly won nearly every seat on the SpringfieldCity Council , in that same election.
