GTK+ -based audio player application written using the Python programming language. Its main design goal is to provide a way for users to organize their music library however they want. One of Quod Libet's unique features is the ability to search and construct playlists based on search terms or
regular expressions . Quod Libet includes atag editor (also available separately as Ex Falso) which can alter the metadata of groups of files.Quod Libet uses the
GStreamer multimedia framework to handle audio playback. File format support is dependent on which GStreamer decoding modules the user has installed, althoughMP3 andOgg are supported by default.Quod Libet can be extended by writing
plugin s as Python scripts. Plugins available from the Quod Libet website can, among other things, add advanced editing features, synchronize withMusicBrainz , copy songs to portabledigital audio player s, and display on-screen song change notifications. Quod Libet also supportslast.fm via the QLScrobbler plugin, which sends details on songs played to the last.fm server so that they may be added to a user's music profile. An unofficial patch is available to show Similar Artists, Top 10 Songs and Top 10 Albums, derived from last.fm.
