Kiambu is a town in Central Province,
Kenya . It is located at around coord|1|10|0|S|36|49|60|E, in the elevation of about 1720 m. It has an urban population of 13,814. It is the capital of theKiambu District , which bounds the northern border ofNairobi [http://treasury.go.ke/cbs.go.ke/pdf/authority.pdf] . Other proximate towns areRuiru (east of Kiambu),Gatundu (NE),Limuru (NW) andKabete (SW). The town is surrounded by hillyKikuyu farmland although is under urbanisation as Nairobi is growing fast and more people settle in neighbouring towns. Kiambu is seen as a future anchor to the capital city Nairobi which is busting in its seams due to rapid development with limited space for growth. Apart from central Kiambu, there are villages such asNdumberi , Riabai, Kihingo, Ngegu and Kangoya among others.The town has an elected council with a Mayor and a fully fledged town council, Town clerk, treasurer among other elected officials. Kiambu is also center of Kiambaa, an administrative division and electoral constituency of Kiambu District.Kiambu Club, opened in 1916, is one of the oldest
