Matthias Hues (born February 14, 1959) is a sportsman turned actor.

Biography

Hues was born in Waltrop, Germany, and was raised on a ranch by his doctor-father Josef...who, according to the younger Hues, did not even own a television set. Matthias (whose name is the Teutonic form of "Matthew")'s first Hollywood acting role was as Yuri in the film No Retreat, No Surrender 2. The script was rewritten at the last minute when Jean-Claude Van Damme refused to reprise his role, and his character was made into Hues’ Yuri. Matthias's proficiency with martial arts is well-known, his specialties include kickboxing

Hues' most famous role was as an alien in the 1990 film I Come in Peace in which he uttered the famous line, “I come in peace.” Since then, Hues has appeared largely in action films as henchmen or as intimidating villains in B-movies. He played one of the Klingon generals in the feature film Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.
