- Saab Quantum
SAAB Quantum was a series of 5 SAAB cars built in the
USA using aSaab 96 two-stroke engine and suspension parts. The Quantum was first presented in1962 and was only built in a few copies. The chassis was computer engineered byWalter Kern atIBM in his spare time.Due to lacking quality it was turned down by Saab in
Sweden and never went into full commercial production.* Quantum I (1953) - only a rolling chassis (one built).
* Quantum II - with a water cooled, three cylinder 750 ccSaab two-stroke engine with threeSolex 34Wcarburetor s giving 57 hp (43 kW). The top speed was 155 km/h and it did 0 to 100 km/h in 16 seconds. Only two built.
* Quantum III - redesigned II, two built.
* Quantum IV (1964) - scaled down to one seat. Available askit car . Intended forSports Car Club of America 's (SCCA) "Formula S " series.
