- Pani patti
Pani patti is an alternate accent/style of reciting the
Quran , compared with the traditional Arabic or Egyptian accent. Pani patti accent is peculiar to India and Pakistan and is limited in thesub-continent region only. Although, even in thesub-continent it's not as popular and known among people as the traditional style of recitation.In Pani patti accent, verses of the Quran are recited more or less, in homogenous tone with a little variation. The graph of tone, in every verse, rises in the start, then keeps its typical melody for a while, to fall at the end. This style of recitation is considered to be very rhythmic and melodic.
Pani patti accent is supposed to have been originated in the region of
Panipat in India, and got its name from there. In Pakistan, there are many schools (madrassah's) in the cities ofMultan andFaisalabad that teach pani patti accent.Pani patti accent is a bit controversial among the Qaris. The hard-core conventional Arabic style Qaris especially, consider Pani patti as an imitation to some form of music, which is forbidden in Islam.Fact|date=February 2007 The anti-pani patti group also sometimes quote a
