Today it doesn΄t have more than 15 inhabitants. Antipata Pylarou is linked with a road linking Divarata and Dentrinata which accesses with the road linking Agia Efimia and Karia. The main road is located to the south on the other side of the valley. From the village is originated the famous Greek rebel Marinos Antypas. Olderly Antypata was one of the most powerful villages of Kefalonia and the family Antypa was registered in the "Libro d'Oro" of the Venettian landowners between 1594-1604. The family may have come to Kefalonia by Florence, Italy. According to the genealogical tree the first Antypa was Michael Antypa. During the 17th century, the family started war with the other powerful families of the island (Karousoi, Sdrin, Anninoi). The village of Antypata was destroyed and many members of the family left the area. Some went to Erissos, where they founded the village of Antipata Erissou, while others went to Paliki.

Antypata Pylarou was struck by the August 1953 Earthquake destroying every residential building in the village. The village was shortly re-built in the late-1950s and emigration lasted until the late-20th century, moving inhabitants to other parts of Greece and the world. Electricity, running water and telephone lines became linked in the 1960s. Antipata Pylarou became linked with a paved road in the 1990s. Agirculture is the only source of industry with traces of other businesses.
