Sør-Vågsøy is a former municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It was originally a part of the municipality of Selje (see formannskapsdistrikt).

On 1 January 1910, Sør-Vågsøy and Nord-Vågsøy were separated from Selje to form their own municipalities. Sør-Vågsøy had a population of 1,517 at this point.cite web|first=Dag|last=Jukvam|publisher=Statistics Norway|title=Historisk oversikt over endringer i kommune- og fylkesinndelingen|date=1999|url=http://www.ssb.no/emner/00/90/rapp_9913/rapp_9913.pdf] On 1 July 1921, the farm Blesrød in Nord-Vågsøy was transferred to Sør-Vågsøy.

On 1 January 1964, the new municipality of Vågsøy was created by merging Sør-Vågsøy, Nord-Vågsøy, and parts of Davik and Selje. Before the merger Sør-Vågsøy had a population of 3,926.

Today, Sør-Vågsøy refers to the southern part of the island of Vågsøy where the villages Holvik, Vågsvåg, Torskangerpoll, Færestrand, and Oppedal are located.
