The main access point to the federally preservedHeadwaters Forest is found in Carlotta. The town enjoys wonderful weather, except for occasional winter storms and high wind gusts. Carlotta is about convert|35|mi|km away from the Humboldt county seat,Eureka, California .Carlotta was once home to the famed Carlotta Hotel, notable for the fact that it burned down two times.
