The Seyhan River (formerly written Seihan, Sihun) is a 560 km-long river in
Adana Province ,Turkey . It flows southwest from its headwaters in the Tahtalı-Mountains (provincesSivas andKayseri ) inAnti-Taurus Mountains to theMediterranean Sea via a broad delta.In ancient times, it was called the Sarus, and its plain was called the
Cilicia n plain.The city of
Adana lies on the right (west) bank of the Seyhan about 50 km from its mouth where the great Stone Bridge crosses it. The majorSeyhan Dam upstream of Adana serves forirrigation ,hydroelectric power , andflood control .ee also
