Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatname

Evliya Çelebi's Seyahatname

The Seyahatname (English "Itinerary", Macedonian: "Патепис/Patepis", Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian "Putopis") by Evliya Çelebi is a documentation of the author's travels through the Ottoman ruled Balkans. He recorded his travels through conquered Europe between 1631 and 1670.

The Seyahatname was written in ten volumes. It was printed for the first time in then-Constantinople in 1843. The work gives a great insight into the state of the region during Ottoman rule and war. His travels took him through parts of Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
