- Arc Flashlight
Arc Flashlight LLC was an American manufacturer that produced innovative
LED flashlight s, several of which were the genesis of or inspiration for products from other manufacturers. Arc Flashlight LLC began operation May 2001, and went out of business September 22, 2004. The founder and designer of Arc, Peter Gransee, started a new company (MTD LLC) in December 2004 which continues the Arc brand and design. [http://www.arcflashlight.com/faqs.htm]Arc has historical significance since several innovative models were the inspiration for flashlights later produced by other companies. These products included the first LED flashlight operating off a single AAA-battery, the first temperature-compensated LED flashlight, and the first microprocessor controlled
Luxeon Star flashlight. Possibly the most significant innovation was the first flashlight using the high power Luxeon Star LED, the Arc LS. This for the first time enabled a solid-state LED flashlight to produce output comparable to incandescent bulb designs. The name "Arc" came from intense white light some LEDs produce, looking similar to the color of an electric arc welder.Currently, Arc manufacturers 2 EDC flashlights
Arc AAA
Arc-AAA is single AAA battery based LED flashlight. Arc-AAA is designed keeping four key factors in to consideration. Firstly, the size; as small as possible, easy for every day carry and should be very pocketable. Secondly, the runtime; provide best combination of output and runtime. Thirdly, the battery; should be small, commonly available and easy to find locally. And lastly, the durability; should be durable enough to be used in range of situations including rain & fire.
Arc6
Arc6 is a micro processor based, single CR123 battery, piston drive (PD), programmable LED flashlight. Arc6 uses Seoul ZPower SSC P4 LED as its illumination source. Arc6 is 6th revision of legendary LS series. Arc6 is designed as a bright illumination tool for EDC (Every Day Carry) keeping four key factors in to consideration namely flashlight size, runtime, brightness and durability. Firstly, the size to be small & pocketable so that you can carry it on a daily basis without any concerns i.e. easy for every day carry. Secondly the runtime should be enough to last long for emergencies at a low brightness level. At the same time the brightness should be enough to illuminate greater distances. And lastly Arc6 should be durable enough to be used in range of situations including rain & fire.
