Last single = "One Year of Love " (1986)
This single = "I Want It All" (1989)
Next single = "Breakthru" (1989)"I Want It All" (audio|Queen - I Want It All.ogg|sample) is a song by the British rock band Queen. It is the fourth track on the album "The Miracle" and was written by
guitarist Brian May (who briefly takes over lead vocals), but credited to all four members of the band. It is one of the band's most well-known and popular songs. The song itself is ahard rock anthem , and lyrically features themes relating to rebellion and social upheaval, although May claims that it is about having ambitions and fighting for one's own goals. Because of this, the song became an anti-apartheid song inSouth Africa and has also been used as agay rights protest theme and a rallying anthem for African American youth.Fact|date=February 2007 Inspiration to the song came from Brian May's wifeAnita Dobson frequently demanding "I want it all and I want it now".The single release is significantly different from the album track, shortening the length of May's solo. The guitar intro was also replaced by an
a cappella version of the chorus. TheQueen Rocks version combines both versions together, including the single version intro but the longer, album version guitar solo.It peaked at #3 in the
United Kingdom and #50 on the US Billboard, and #3 on the USMainstream Rock Tracks .The song has been used in advertisements for
Dr Pepper , dfs,Circuit City , andChase Bank .Promotional video
* The music video for "I Want It All" was a straight performance video, with the band, all dressed smartly in black trousers and white shirts (with drummer Roger Taylor wearing a leather jacket, with his other band's single, "The Manipulator" on it) playing the song on a stage in a warehouse. It was purposely shot using strong halogen lighting in order to 'mask' Freddie's increasingly gaunt appearance as his tragic battle with AIDS started to show some two years before he lost to it. Look closely at this and Freddie in the Previous Queen Single Video, you can notice a marked difference in his appearance.
*Roger Taylor uses a double bass drum kit for the only time in this video.
*It was directed by David Mallet and is thus the only video for a single from the The Miracle album that was not directed and produced byDoRo .
*There are brief parts of the video where you can see cameras and people in the background.
* In this video there is a shot of Roger Taylor hitting a drum with liquid on its surface. This image is referenced in other videos from other musicians, for instanceThe Darkness Fact|date=December 2007.
