The "Entreprise" was a 24-gun frigate of the French Navy.
She was captured in May 1705 by the British vessel HMS "Tryton". She is the first confirmed vessel to have been christened with the name "Enterprise". It is thought likely that she served in the Mediterranean Sea.Fact|date=February 2007
After her capture by the British, it was re-christened HMS "Enterprise" and served in the Royal Navy as a sixth-rate, or "jackass frigate", until being wrecked 12 October 1707 near Thornton, England.Fact|date=February 2007
