- The Voyager
"The Voyager" (German title: "Homo Faber") is an
English language motion picture made in 1991. It was adapted from the 1957 novel "Homo Faber" byMax Frisch . The director isVolker Schlöndorff .It tells the fictional story of
United Nations engineer Walter Faber, played bySam Shepard - a man portrayed as devoted tosaving the world through development of massivedams .Set in 1960, the film begins with Faber surviving a plane crash, graphically shown, much like in the American television series "Lost".
Through a series of coincidences, Faber then meets a woman in her early twenties, played by
Julie Delpy . This person strongly reminds him of his former wife and he begrudgingly acknowledges the attraction. The film beautifully illustrates their travels across Europe together in aCitroën DS .Well regarded by
critic s and telling a coherent and unusual story, "The Voyager" has an explosive theme - revealed only in the ironic twist ending.Cast
