Pittsburg, Oregon

Pittsburg is an unincorporated community in Columbia County, Oregon, United States. It was named for the industrial heritage of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Pittsburg's elevation is 581 feet. The Scappose-Vernonia road and the St. Helens-Pittsburg road join Oregon Route 47 at Pittsburg. [ [http://egov.oregon.gov/ODOT/TD/TDATA/gis/docs/countymaps/colu1.pdf colu1 ] ]

In an early December of 2007 Storm Pittsburg once again flooded. In a rerun of the 1996 flood, the Nehalem River overflowed its banks, and was several feet deep across the highway in the Pittsburg area flooding out most of the buildings in the community.
