Cronicae et gesta ducum sive principum Polonorum

Cronicae et gesta ducum sive principum Polonorum

"Cronicae et gesta ducum sive principum Polonorum" (Chronicles and Deeds of the Dukes or Princes of the Poles) was the first history of Poland. It was written in Latin, around 1115 AD, by Gallus Anonymus, who is suspected to have been a monk from Venice. The oldest known copy has been dated from 1340 AD. The autograph of the writer/scribe was not preserved.

The Chronicle itself describes historical events from the 8th century Popielids through part of the Piast dynasty. It begins with Piast the Wheelwright and covers events to the reign of his 10th successor Bolesław III Wrymouth in Masovia around 1113.

The Chronicle was quoted and known to Wincenty Kadłubek, author of "Chronica seu originale regum et principum Poloniae".
