She is best recognised for her roles as one of the main characters, Mrs. Palmer in the British TV comedy "Solo", alongsideFelicity Kendal and as Lady Collingford in the British TV series "Catweazle ".Biography

She has most recently appeared as Hilary in the British TV comedy "
Dinnerladies ". Gray has no acting work planned for 2008.She is also known for playing The Queen in the first series of the
BBC sitcom "Blackadder ". Gray has appeared in many television programmes, her first appearance being in "Love in Waiting " in 1948. She has also appeared in "Fawlty Towers ", the 1983 "Doctor Who " story "Arc of Infinity ", "dinnerladies ", "Catweazle ", "Poirot" and World War Two drama "Tenko." She also appeared as Mrs Palmer in sitcom "Solo" withFelicity Kendal . She was also in the 1994 film "Four Weddings and a Funeral ".Personal life
In 1949, Elspet Gray married
actor and MENCAP President Brian Rix, who became a Life Peer in 1992. They have four children, one of whom, Shelley, had Down's syndrome and died in July 2005 at the age of 53. Their son Jamie is a children's author who has produced television programmes such as "My Hero".External links
