Ilamcetcenni( _ta. இளம்சேட்சென்னி) was a
Chola king during theSangam age in SouthIndia . He was the father ofKarikala Chola and ruled around 301 B.C. He is a great warrior and ruled the chola kingdom with Puhar as capital. Cholas were ruling Cheras and Pandiyas. This is the period where Magadha dynasty has established its empire from Persia to southern India. Bindusara son of Chandra Gupta Maurya conquered almost the whole India except Kalinga and Cholas. It is also mentioned that Ilanchetcheni have had good relation with Bindusara. But in Purananooru its mentioned as he stood with his army and stopped the exploration of Mauryas down the southern region.He was then succeeded by Thirumavalavan, who is considered the greatest among the Early cholas.
