Education

Bloor C.I. is known for its excellence in educationFact|date=February 2007, high graduation rateFact|date=February 2007, as well as universities/college enrollment rate. In grades 10 and 11, courses such as mathematics and science are offered at three levels - "enriched", "academic" and "applied". Academic level courses prepare students who are thinking of attending university, while applied level courses teach practical topics, and are for students who want an education in college. Enriched is a new level that was added recently, and it is for students who are not satisfied with academic courses and have strong interest in learning. In grades 11 and 12, academic level becomes university level, while applied level becomes college level. While the general distinction remains, some courses are only offered at the university level, such as geometry and algebra. Students who have graduated from Bloor Collegiate Institute go into all kinds of different post-secondary education. The University of Toronto is the biggest target for graduating students.

Canadian poet Susan Ioannou was an English teacher at the school for six years, during the 1970s.
