Poland , in theWschowa County of theLubuskie Voivodship , near theOder River .It was founded in 1644 by Protestant exiles fleeing the
Counter-Reformation in theSilesia n province of theHoly Roman Empire . About one mile behind the border between Silesia andGreater Poland thejunker "Johann Georg von Schlichting" laid out the the new settlement near the village of "Górczyna" with consent of King Władysław IV of thePolish-Lithuanian Commonwealth . The place was therefore named "Schlichtinkowo" or _de. Schlichtingsheim. In1793 it was annexed by theKingdom of Prussia within the Second Partition of Poland. As a result of thePotsdam Conference since1945 the town again belongs toPoland .The population as of
