Niš .History
First records of Žitorada, as an inhabited region, date from IV century, as an old Byzantine city “Žitoradsko kale”. The “Latin church” located in Glašinac, a village near Žitorada, dates from this period. In VII century “Zitoradsko kale” was inhabited by Slavic people.
In
1877 Žitorada was liberated from long term Turkish slavery. This event is considered the founding year of Žitorađa municipal [http://www.zitoradja.org/english/about.jsp] .Economy
