Emily Jean Perkins (born May 4, 1977) is a Canadian actress, known best for her portrayal of Brigitte in the "Ginger Snaps" trilogy. Starting during the late 1980s, she has appeared in various Canadian and American movies and television series.

Career

As a child actress, Perkins was recognized, notably for her appearance in three made for television movies: 1989s "Small Sacrifices", opposite Farrah Fawcett, Ryan O'Neal and John Shea, 1990s "Anything to Survive", where she played Krista, the sister of Billy Barton (Matt Le Blanc), and Stephen King's "IT" in 1990, alongside a young Jonathan Brandis, and Seth Green. In 1998, Perkins took a supporting role in the Canadian TV series "Da Vinci's Inquest" as Carmen (series 1, episode 9). Clearly having made a good impression with the producers, she returned to the series in 2001 to take a recurring, supporting role as Sue Lewis for a further 34 episodes. Perkins is, though, most famous for her role as Brigitte in the Ginger Snaps Trilogy of films: "Ginger Snaps" (2000), ' which had a limited theatrical release in 2004, and '. "Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed" is to date Perkin's largest role in a film. In 2004 the horror magazine "Fangoria" awarded Perkins their "Chainsaw Award" for her work in "GS2: Unleashed".

Perkins had a supporting role in "She's the Man" and a small role as a receptionist in "Juno".

Personal life

Perkins was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2004, she adopted her two cousins, then aged 10 and 13. During a protracted hiatus from work, Perkins taught acting at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in the 2005-2006 academic year. She gave birth to a son, Dante, in the spring of 2006, returning home to Vancouver in the summer of 2006.

Perkins and her "Ginger Snaps" co-star Katharine Isabelle were born in the same hospital, attended the same pre-school and elementary school, and are at the same agency.
