"The Slumber Party Massacre" is a 1982 slasher film directed by Amy Holden Jones and written by feminist activist Rita Mae Brown. There have been 3 sequels to the movie: "Slumber Party Massacre 2", "Slumber Party Massacre 3" and "Cheerleader Massacre". It's also in the Massacre Collection which also includes "Sorority House Massacre", and "Sorority House Massacre 2".
Like many of its contemporaries, this film used female nudity and gore to reach its teenage male target audience. Ironically, the first sequel featured very little nudity, relying on humor instead.
The DVD release was September 17 2002. Extras include actor bios along with trailers for "Slumber Party Massacre", "SPM 2" and "Sorority House Massacre 2".
Plot
An eighteen-year-old high school girl is left at home by her parents and she decides to have a slumber party. There is friction between some of the invited guests and the new girl, who is better at basketball than they, so the new girl decides to stay at home (which is conveniently across the street from the host's house). Meanwhile, a murderer of five people with a propensity for power tools has escaped and is at large, and eventually makes his way to the party, where the guests begin experiencing an attrition problem, with only the new girl to help them.
