Interstate 83 across theSusquehanna River connecting downtownHarrisburg, Pennsylvania and its western suburbs inCumberland County, Pennsylvania . The South Bridge officially opened onJanuary 22 ,1960 and was later widened to six lanes. The bridge was named in honor of John Harris, the founder of the city of Harrisburg.
