- Gosiewski (Korwin)
Gosiewski (plural: "Gosiewscy") is the surname of a Polish
szlachta (nobility) family. Because Polish adjectives have different forms for the genders, Gosiewska is the same form for a female family member.History
The Gosiewski family was a "middle"
szlachta family, originated from a Knight of the clan Korwin, Lord of Gosiewo (Gosie or Gosie Lesnica), nearZambrów . One of the most representative members of the family, was Field Lithuanian HetmanWincenty Korwin Gosiewski . He was one of the powerful and influential officers in theGrand Duchy of Lithuania of the 17th century. There are two Gosiewskis noble families. It seems that one of them originates from a Knight from the clan Slepowron, Lord of Gosie or Gosiewo, near
Różan . The other aristocratic family, originate from a Knight of the clan Korwin, Lord of Gosiewo (Gosie or Gosie Lesnica), nearZambrów . To the last family are Aleksander Korwin Gosiewski and, of course, his son Wincenty and his daughter Zuzanna. Some sources claim that Wicenty's cousin was the landowner of a large estate in the Chelsty region, also near Rózan too. But it seems to be confused, if thisszlachcic is really from the Korwin-Gosiewski family or from the Slepowron-Gosiewski.Coat of arms
The Gosiewski family used the
Korwin coat of arms .Members
