Brooklyn, New York and raised inFlushing, NY . He attendedNew York City public schools, includingBrooklyn Technical High School , and later attendedEmerson College inBoston, Massachusetts .After 11 years in radio (in
Fall River, Massachusetts ,Palm Beach, Florida ,Charlotte, North Carolina ,Phoenix, Arizona andPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania ), Fox began reporting weather on a television station inBuffalo, New York , where he also hosted a local version of the nationally syndicated TV program "PM Magazine ". He moved to WTNH inNew Haven, CT in 1984.Fox received a certificate in broadcast
meteorology , with academic honors, fromMississippi State University in 2005. He later received the American Meteorological Society's Broadcast Seal of Approval.He is the recipient of seven Boston/New England regional
Emmy awards, and has perennially won the Best TV Personality award in the "New Haven Advocate ". In addition to his on-air activities, Fox is a frequent host of charity events and has been associated with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, March of Dimes and Connecticut Association of Schools for more than a decade.Geoff is also a Ham Radio operator.
