Poynton inCheshire ,England .The station has listed building status since it was built in the 1800s.
It has been adopted by Brookside Garden Centre who maintain the garden.The station is staffed between the hours of 06:30 and 14:00 Monday to Friday, 07:30 and 15:00 Saturdays and is unstaffed on Sundays.
The station has been subject to regular vandalism. The station's toilets, bike shed and Manchester-bound waiting room are no longer open to the general public. The station is painted in First North Western colours,the colours of the previous train operator which have now been adopted by Northern Rail.
Best Station Award
The station recently won the award for best kept station in Cheshire for 2008.This was due to the work and dedication of Brookside Garden Centre and the Stations part-time Ticket Agent Glynn Derbeyshire who lives locally.
ervice pattern
The station has an hourly train service to Macclesfield, Monday to Saturday. This increases to half-hourly during evening peak.Two services a day continue beyond Macclesfield to Stoke-on-Trent.On Sundays there are 3 services each way to Stoke and Manchester Piccadilly.
Improvements to train services
It has been announcedFact|date=February 2008 that from December 2008, an hourly local train service will be reintroduced between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent throughout the day. This will be operated by Northern Rail and will stop at Poynton.
