- A Hot Pneumonic
A Hot Pneumonic is a
Midwest indie rock band formed in2003 . Their debut self-titled album was released inMadison, Wisconsin and Milwaukee, Wisconsin independently in December of2003 . The band is led byNick Votto on vocals, guitar , and keyboards andAnna Worthington on drums and background vocals, and has included brotherMichael Votto on background vocals and synth, andBobby Worthington onguitar .The band's sound has progressed over their several self-produced albums, but has deep roots in modern folk and indie rock. Many of A Hot Pneumonic's songs include acoustic guitar with barely any other instruments. Most were recorded at Nick Votto's
Sun Setter Studios inBrookfield, Wisconsin , except "apartment songs..." which was recorded in Votto's apartment inShorewood, Wisconsin , and the spattering of recordings Nick did while living inPhoenix, AZ .A Hot Pneumonic formed when Nick Votto's first band
Lowlight called it quits after three years, and Votto met guitaristBobby Worthington , who left the band in late2004 . Members of the band have come and gone but Votto remains the constant force. The moniker has mostly been used as a tool for Votto's own solo efforts. Recently, it has been rumored that Votto's fiance, Anna Worthington, has been recruited to play drums for the band. She has previously appeared as a background vocalist.A Hot Pneumonic's frontman has recently relocated to Chicago, where he is currently engineering and producing other artists. It has been rumored that a new full-length will come out sometime in 2007. Nick is also currently working on a soundtrack to accompany brother Mike Votto's first novel. The soundtrack is rumored to be an experiment in Electronic and Dance Pop which Nick has dubbed "Electronicism" for its thematic roots in electronics and eroticism.
