Liberal Party of Australia (W.A. Division).Any person under 31 who shares a belief in Liberalism is welcome to join the Young Liberal Movement, which is heavily involved in campaigning for Liberal candidates running in State and Federal elections.
The Movement is also involved in policy debates and is able to raise motions of Policy in the Liberal Party's various forums of discussion.
Perth was host to the annual 2008 Federal Convention of the Young Liberals Movement of Australia. Held over the
Australia Day weekend it brings together Young Liberal from across Australia for a series of policy debates, guest State and Federal Parliamentary and Industry speakers, a Gala Dinner Dance and Cocktail Party. Organised almost exclusively by a Committee of Western Australian Young Liberals the event was deemed highly successful, and described as "the best in living memory" by SenatorMathias Cormann andJulie Bishop , Deputy Leader of theLiberal Party of Australia .Ideology
The Young Liberal Movement of Western Australia, like the Liberal Party itself, adheres to the political philosophies of
Liberalism andLiberal Conservatism .There is a general focus on the freedom of the individual and free market economics, as well as a general respect for the traditions and history of Australia.
Organisation
The Movement's current president is Matthew Blampey, the former Policy Vice President (2005-2007).
The Movement is made up of a number of branches. These are geographically based, with one or two per Federal electorate.
