Alison Pick

Alison Pick is a Canadian writer.

She grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, and spent summers in Quebec's Eastern Townships. In 1999 she graduated from the University of Guelph with a B.A. (Hons) in psychology.

The title section of Pick's poetry collection "Question & Answer" won the 2002 Bronwen Wallace Memorial Award for Poetry and the 2003 National Magazine Award for Poetry. The book itself was short-listed for the League of Canadian Poets Gerald Lampert Award for best first book of poetry, and for a Newfoundland and Labrador Book Award.

Alison also won the 2005 CBC Literary Award for Poetry.

Her novel, "The Sweet Edge", published by Raincoast Books, was a "Globe and Mail" Top 100 Book of 2005.

A new book of poetry, "The Dream World" published by McClelland & Stewart in 2008, discovers the theme of place as revealed through a move to Newfoundland and back.
