WMUM serves the geographical center of the state of Georgia, including the city of Macon from its transmitter in Cochran. The station's signal travels in about a 40-mile (64 km) radius from the transmitter site.
WMUM began broadcasting digitally on Channel 7 in
April 2008 History
WMUM-TV signed on
January 1 ,1968 on channel 15 as WDCO-TV. In1990 , the station changed its UHF frequency from channel 15 to channel 29, the only time a GPB station has swapped channels. In the summer of2006 , the station changed its call sign to WMUM-TV, named afterMercer University in Macon. The name change reflects Mercer's involvement in GPB's operations in the Macon market, especially in the field of radio (seeWMUM-FM ).External links
