"Forgotten Worlds" is a a one or two player game where the player takes control of armed flying marine fighting alien adversaries. The arcade version's uses an eight-directional joystick to fly the character around the screen and rotatable
360 degrees dial switch that adjust the character's aim and fire at any direction.The player can accumulate a form of currency named "zennies" by defeating small fry enemies. These zennies can be used in shops located thorough the game to purchase new power-ups that increases the player's offensive and defensive strengths.
The game is composed of five stages and features eight boss characters.
Ports
* Computer ports of "Forgotten Worlds" were released by
U.S. Gold inEurope for theCommodore 64 ,ZX Spectrum ,Amstrad CPC ,Amiga ,Atari ST andIBM PC in vgy|1989. These conversions were all handled byArc Developments .
*Sega released a Mega Drive/Genesis port of "Forgotten Worlds" in 1989 as well. This version cuts two of the game's stages.
* Sega also released a single-player-only port for the 8-bit Master System in vgy|1990 in Europe and Brazil.
* A PC Engine port was released in Japan in vgy|1992 by NEC Avenue. The game was released in Super CD-ROM² format and require a specialized three-button controller produced specifically for the port. The port was released under its western title of "Forgotten Worlds" in Japan.
* The game is included in the vgy|2005 compilation "Capcom Classics Collection Vol.1" for thePlayStation 2 andXbox , as well as in vgy|2006's "Capcom Classics Collection: Remixed" for thePlayStation Portable . The PS2 and Xbox versions both uses their controller's second analog stick to control the character's aim.Further appearances
* The Player 1 character appears in "" as a "helper character" assisting the main fighters. Additionally, the Gods of Thunder and Wind and the King of Gods appear in the background of one of the stages.
* Both players, as well as Sylphie the Shopkeeper, are playable characters in "Namco x Capcom ". In the game, Sylphie uses weapons and items from many different classic Capcom games, and has the ability to change into costumes of various Capcom characters and use their attacks (notably, Makoto from "Street Fighter III ", Michelle Heart from "Legendary Wings ", Linn Kurosawa from "Alien vs. Predator", and Mai-Ling from "Red Earth"). Additionally, the Dust Dragon boss appears in two stages as background decoration (explained in-game as being brought over into these stages by the time-space distortions). The shop theme is also featured in the game.
* In "" for theNeo Geo Pocket Color , there is an amusement center in the game called Lost World. It features a large Dust Dragon statue, numerous weapons from the game behind display cases, and the music from the first stage. Also, a card shop can be accessed on the upper-right corner of the building. The shop keeper is Sylphie, and while browsing her cards it plays the shop music.
* The War God appears in Guy's ending in "Capcom Fighting Evolution ".
* Later Capcom games such as "Mega Man Legends " and "Mega Man Star Force " would use the Zenny as in-game currency.References
