PCC Rail is a Polish rail company operating mainly in freight transport. PCC Rail is owned by the German company. PCC AG. Main products transported by this company are coal, gas, oil products and sand.

The company also mines sand. It was the main activity of the company several years ago, when the name of company was Kopalnia Piasku Szczakowa (which means Sand Mine Szczakowa).

The company controls four dependent companies as a parent company, which are: PCC Śląskie Linie Kolejowe, PCC Tabor Szczakowa, PCC Rail Sea and Telekomunikacja Kopalń Piasku SA.

History

PCC Rail Szczakowa emerged from a local mining-transport company of the sand mine "Szczakowa", operating for over 50 years. Lately it was bought by German PCC AG company. On 16th of November 2006 the company's name was shortened to PCC Rail. It consists of 11 companies belonging to the PCC group. PPC Rail owns 80 locomotives and 3700 railway cars.
