Career
He worked as an assistant to
K. Balachander for 18 of his films and also toMani Ratnam . His first film was the critically acclaimed filmKeladi Kanmani which starred the singing maestroSP Balasubramanyam . He then directed Nee Padhi Naan Padhi, which wasn't as commercially successful as his earlier film. His next movie wasAasai (1995) which was a hit. It was produced byManiratnam . His next film wasNerrukku Ner (1997) also produced by Maniratnam was a big hit and was a trendsetter. Rhythm (2000) and Poovellam Kettupaar (1999) were well received, but were commercial failures. Appu (2000) and Yei Nee Romba Azhaga Irrukkai (2002) were not up to the expectations and didn't do well at the box office either. He went on a hiatus after Yei Nee Romba Azhaga Irukkai. His recent ventureSatham Podathey , was average at the boxoffice.Filmography
