Vasanth Nagar is an upscale residential colony located in Hyderabad, India, with around 8,000 residents. It is divided into 2 large sectors I,II - I has approximately 1000 independently built homes. This neighbourhood is very close to HITEC City. This colony is surrounded by scenic mountains - often referred as "Vasanth Nagar Hills". It is, also, surrounded by a national highway and KPHB Colony.

Commercial area

The current commercial hub of Vasanth Nagar is the adjoining HITEC City. HITEC City played major part in the development of Vasanth Nagar as most of the people living in this neighbourhood are software employees.One of the factors that contributed to the sudden rise of this area is the new Spinal Road that connects Hitec City main road with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU).

History

Vasanth Nagar is deveopled by "The IDPL Employees Cooperative House Building Society". Registered in May, 1978 with a view to solve the housing problem of IDPL employees.In 1980, the Society had acquired 90 acres of land in village Hydernagar and named it as Vasanth Nagar. The Society then developed the area by providing all basic amenities like Manjeera water, electricity. The Society also constructed two way 60 feet wide main road, whereas all internal roads were 33 feet wide which were later on handed over to the Municipality for maintenance. After the development of land, the Society carved out 964 plots, which were allotted to the members in 1987 by draw of lots.The Society has acquired another plot of land measuring 65 acres for allotment of plots to its members, who could not get plots in the first phase

Transportation

Vasanth Nagar is well connected by bus and train. It is approximately 3km from the Hitec-City Metro station.With the proposed fly over near the Hitec station, Vasanth nagar is going to be one of the most sought out location for everyone working in Hi-tec city.

Education

Majority of the people living in Vasanth Nagar are highly paid software professionals. Most of them are either directly or indirectly related to the software industry.

Facilities

There are a number of hospitals and laboratories in and around Vasanth Nagar. This place can also be called as the Entertainment district as there are around 10 movie theatres within a radius of 1 km. People in this area go out a lot and watch movies, this place has numerous shopping malls within a radius of 5km.

Miscellaneous

Many film and TV shootings take place in this colony because of the scenic mountains, nice location and beautiful houses. According to rumours, a scene from a Hollywood movie is being filmed in and around this place (other details of this movie are still awaited).
