Symbiosis International Educational Centre (Deemed University), now known as Symbiosis International University, is a part of the Symbiosis Society of educational institutes in Pune, India.
It comprises, among other institutes, Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR), Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management (SIOM) and Symbiosis Law School (SLS), Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) [http://www.siib.ac.in] .It was declared by the Ministry of Human Resource Development by its notification dated 6th May 2002 as a Deemed University.
SIEC has a student strength of over 30,000. These students hail from all states of India and from 32 foreign countries - mainly from Afro-Asian and Middle Eastern countries. The Symbiosys society was started by a professor from the fergusson college in pune who saw the plight of foreign students in india and vowed to start a school for the betterment of these visiting students. Currently the Symbiosys brand commands respect across india and the students are well known for their high intellectual capabilities. Many students hold distinguised positions in many blue chip indian companies as well as many multinational enterprises.
