Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS)

SIMS - the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies - has been established by the nationally renowned Symbiosis Group. SIMS is a constituent of the prestigious Symbiosis International University and the college is an ISO 9001:2000 quality certified management institute and a top-tier provider of business education across the spectrum. SIMS is ranked 23rd nationwide by "Businessworld" in their 'B-schools' issue of 24 December 2007. It is an accredited "Centre for Corporate Governance" of the 'National Foundation of Corporate Governance' (est by Min of Corporate Affairs and CII).

We seek students who are responsible and highly motivated so that SIMS can nurture and train them for success. As per MoU with Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, admission to full time MBA programmes is primarily for dependents of Defence personnel and those sponsored by industry, meeting the eligibility criteria of Symbioisis International University.

INFRASTRUCTURE

SIMS has an integrated campus with all learning facilities requisite of a contemporary business school. It is housed in a fully residential wi-fi campus with separate hostel facilities for both men and women with in-house messing facilities. The excellent sports and fitness amenities including the gym, yoga, aerobics and the swimming pool invite students to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The selection process is through the SNAP test conducted nation wide. Eligibility criteria includes:1. The candidate must be a defence personnel on study leave2. Dependent of a defence personnel3. Industry sponsored candidate4. Minimum 50% marks in graduation in main papers. Subsidiary excluded.

MBA Programs

Education at SIMS is offered primarily for dependants of Army, Navy and Air Force personnel including ex-servicemen, officers on study leave and industry sponsored candidates, who can demonstrate a responsible and motivated approach to management education. Admissions to the full time courses at SIMS are governed by the Memorandum of Understanding between Symbiosis Society and the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India dated 10th July 2000 only as indicated below.

A. Categories

Defence Open Category80% vacancies for the full time courses offered by SIMS shall be allotted to dependents of defence personnel on the basis of their performance in the entrance process on merit.

Defence Special Reservation Category10% vacancies on full time courses shall be allotted by SIMS management in consultation with HQ Southern Command for dependents of Defence Personnel affected as under:

Killed in action (War, Counter- Insurgency or War-like operations) Next of kin of service personnel who have died/been disabled while in service and are awarded Special / Liberalised Family Pension. (Admission is conditional to candidate meeting the laid down eligibility criteria and is subject to merit in the selection process.)Industry Sponsored Category10% vacancies are for Industry / sponsored candidates in open category. This category is open to those students who are sponsored by industry for full time programmes. (Admission is conditional to candidate meeting the laid down eligibility requirements and is subject to merit in selection process like other candidates.)
