Kirt Dean Manwaring (born on July 15, 1965 in Elmira, New York), is a former Major League baseball catcher who was selected by the San Francisco Giants, in the second round of the 1986 draft out of Coastal Carolina University. He was only 21 when drafted and was one of the youngest to be picked in the draft.

While playing for the Giants, Kirt struggled behind the plate and spent some of the 90's in the minors. Over the next few years Kirt began to field extremely well and earned a Gold Glove in 1993. He finished the season with the National League's second-highest percentage of throwing out basestealers (45 percent). The Giants then traded him to the Houston Astros for Rick Wilkins and cash, in July 1996. At the end of the season, he signed with the Colorado Rockies in hopes to pick up his low batting average. He finished his last season in 1999 with a .299 batting average, but decided to quit the game.

Awards

A good defensive catcher, he recorded a .998 fielding percentage and won a Gold Glove award with the San Francisco Giants in 1993. He won the 1993 Willie Mac Award honoring his spirit and leadership. In 1993, he was tied for 4th in intentional walks, with 13.

Inducted into Coastal Carolina University Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
