Hugh Mackay (social researcher)

Hugh Mackay is the founder of the Australian quarterly research series The Ipsos Mackay Report (previously The Mackay Report). He is a psychologist, social researcher and writer. He is a regular columnist in The Age and regularly commentator appearing on radio and television. He is a graduate of Sydney Grammar School, the University of Sydney and Macquarie University. He is one of the founders of the St James Ethics Centre.

Positions

He is an Adjunct Professor in the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (a joint project of the Australian National University, the University of Melbourne and Charles Sturt University), a former honorary professorial fellow in the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Chairman of the Board of Management for the Constable Education Program for the NSW Police, a former Chairman of Trustees of Sydney Grammar School, a former Deputy Chairman of the Australia Council, a member of the advisory committee for the Sydney Peace Prize and a former Chairman of the ACT Government’s [http://www.cmd.act.gov.au/communityinclusion/ Community Inclusion Board] .

He is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society and has been awarded honorary doctorates by The University of New South Wales, Charles Sturt University and Macquarie University.
