Alexander Aleksandrovich Kornilov (1862-1925) was a
Russia nhistorian and liberal politician. He is not to be confused with Alexander Kornilov (1801–1856), Russian governor and senator, or Alexander Alekseyevich Kornilov, a late 20th-early 21st century Russian historian.Biography
Prior to the
Russian Revolution of 1917 , Kornilov was a history professor at thePolytechnicum of Peter the Great inSaint Petersburg and author of a definitive history of 19th century Russia. He specialized in the reign ofAlexander II of Russia and the life ofMikhail Bakunin . In 1917, he served as secretary of the Central Committee of the liberalConstitutional Democratic Party and chairman of the party'sPetrograd Committee.After the
Russian Civil War (1918-1920) Kornilov taught at the renamedPolytechnical Institute inPetrograd and continued his work on Bakunin.Works
