- Dubrovnik Highlands
-
Dubrovnik Highlands comprises three areas of interest, Trebinjska Krajina (Pronounced in English Travunian Marches), Ravno, & Neum all of which can be found in the southern tip of Bosnia & Herzegovina. Although Travunian Marches is today part of Ravno Municipality, its historic and geo-political significance lies with Trebinje, not Dubrovnik.
It has always had a close connection with the city of Dubrovnik. This is because in the old days, this city was a major sea port for trade and commerce. The plateau has served the surrounding area with food for many years.
Today the Travunian Marches offer holidays for adventurers interested in the "wild western life style." Its rough, rocky, pine forest country offers a unique blend of freedom to explore and enjoy. About 30 minutes by car from Dubrovnik is the famous Hutovo Nature Reserve, a reservoir, with one of the largest number of rare birds in Europe.
