Sutorina

Sutorina

The village of Sutorina and surrounding territory, including a short stretch of the Adriatic coast was named after the little vale of the river Sutorina. Since the breakup of Yugoslavia, the territory has been disputed between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The Bosnian side of the dispute is that:

The only possible former Bosnian exit to open sea in length of 7 kilometers on the west side of the entrance to the Boka Kotorska, gained in 1947 by the former Yugoslav republic of Montenegro. On all maps until May 1947, Sutorina is part of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Sutorina, together with 5 Bosnian villages (Igalo, Sutorina, Sušćepan, Prijev and Ratiševina) subsequently was removed from all maps of Bosnia-Herzegovina and connected to Montenegro on maps, in a disputed manner allegedly by Đuro Pucar and Avdo Humo representing Bosnia-Herzegovina and Blažo Jovanović representing Montenegro who made a deal with the permission of Josip Broz Tito and Vladimir Bakarić.

Sutorina is near the town of Trebinje in southeastern Srpska, part of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The only valid borders between former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia republics are borders from the 2nd AVNOJ meeting in 1943Fact|date=September 2008.

Now Bosnia-Herzegovina wants back its second and only possible exit to the open sea. Bosnia-Herzegovina currently only has access to the open sea across Croatian waters from Neum bay.
