Texas and is found as aferal rose so often along theOregon Trail that it is also called the Oregon Trail Rose. It is actually Harison's Yellow, which originated as a chance hybrid seedling of "Rosa foetida " that bloomed for the first time at the suburban villa of George F. Harison, attorney, between 8th and 9th Avenues on 32nd Street, north ofNew York City . The site of Harison's villa is now just south of the presentGeneral Post Office . The nurserymanWilliam Prince of Long Island took cuttings and marketed the rose in1830 .The Yellow Rose is the official flower of both
