"A Day No Pigs Would Die" is a 1972 coming of age story by Robert Newton Peck about a young Shaker boy in Vermont. The sequel is "A Part of the Sky", also by Robert Newton Peck. The novel is focused around the boy developing a strong bond with his father and his pet pig named Pinky, based in the fictional town of Learning, Vermont. Robert Newton Peck involves his own childhood in this story that reveals the problems Robert faces growing into his manhood. It was banned for violence, murder, sexual activity, and improper language. This book is often listen on the ALA 100 most frequently challenged books.The book takes place about the time during Calvin Coolidge is President.It is # 17 on the banned book list. This book was Robert Newton Peck's first book that he wrote.
