Andrea Aparo (born Rome 1954 - ), is a physicist with Italian and Swiss citizenship.
Andrea Aparo holds a Doctorate degree "summa cum laude" in Physics. He started work in experimental physics and then became a researcher at the International
Patent Office inDen Haag, Netherlands . In 1979 he joined theItalian Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN) as a member of the staff of the chairman, Professor Umberto Colombo. In 1981 he moved to ENEA (previously CNEN) as a member of the Economics Studies Division and Assistant to the President. From June 1982 to May 1983, upon invitation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he was appointed Visiting Scientist at the Office Automation Group of the Laboratory for Computer Science. He conducted research on the management of technological innovation in collaboration with theMIT Sloan School of Management . From July 1983 to April 1987, back at ENEA, he was put in charge of the Office Automation Projects, of the Diffusion of Technological Innovation in the Small-Medium-size Industry Project, and continued his work as Assistant to the President. In the same period he served as a member of various governmental committees (Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Education, EEC).In April 1987 he accepted an Executive position in the Corporate Development and Management Control Division of
FIAT S.p.A. In January 1988 he was appointed Vice-President in charge of the Business Development Unit of the same Division.In March 1990, he was made responsible for International Relations of the Strategic Coordination Unit of Fiat Auto S.p.A.. In the same month he started to serve as a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Theseus Institute, Management School in Advanced Studies in Information and Networking Strategy located in
Sophia Antipolis ,France . From March 1993 to February 1994, he was responsible for the coordination of the Total Quality Plan at Fiat Auto S.p.A. and acted as assistant to the Senior V.P,. responsible for all Fiat Auto Staff Operations, and took part in the Strategic Planning Process.Till June 1998 he was in charge of the Environmental Scenario Division for the Environment and Industrial Policy Department of Fiat Auto S.p.A.
From June 1998 to February 1999 he was Executive Coordinator at the
World Economic Forum inGeneva ,Switzerland .In February 1999 he was appointed Director General of the City of
Barletta ,Italy , position from which he resigned in December of the same year.Starting March 1999, he was an Assistant to the Prof. Ferrante Pierantoni, Component of AIPA, Information technology authority of the Italian Prime Minister’s Office. From 2000 to 2002, he was responsible of the Strategic Planning for Multimoda Network SpA, a fashion company based in
Milan , Italy.Since November 2002, he has worked for
Finmeccanica Spa, the major Italian Aerospace and Defence Industrial Group, and holds the position of Scientific Advisor and Responsible for Technology Intelligence.He became a member of the Aspen Institute European Dialogue Steering Committee in 1993, and in 1994 Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management, Department of Statistics, Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, Post-Doctorate School on Operational Research and Decision Theory, continuing the teaching and lecturing activity started in 1979. Since then, he has had the honor of teaching in high schools, academic institutions, private companies in Italy and abroad: among others, in the U.S.A., Australia, Japan, France.From January 1998 to December 2005, he was Deputy Director and Professor of Fundamentals of Management and Strategic Management in Cyberspace at MiNE-Master of Management of the Network Economy Program, Università Cattolica di Piacenza, Italy.Since 2001, he is also a contract Professor, co-teaching the Laboratory of Metaproject at the
Politecnico di Milano , Department of Industrial, Arts, Communication and Fashion Design.Since 1973 he has been editor and writer of science articles and books published by numerous newspapers and magazines.
In 1995 he was founder of com.e srl, an Internet company based in Rome, specializing in web-related activities.He is a member of the board of various companies, in Italy and abroad.
