Bayfront Medical Center is a
hospital inSt. Petersburg, Florida . A level twotrauma center , thisteaching hospital isnot-for-profit and has received a number of awards includingJCAHO , "Best Nursing Staff" in theTampa Bay area , "Best Run Hospital", and is home to ahelicopter transport program (Bayflite). It is located in downtown St. Petersburg only a few blocks from Tampa Bay. Bayfront is located outside of the flood andstorm surge zones for even the largesthurricanes .Bayfront was originally organized as the St. Petersburg Sanitarium in 1906, and over the next six decades redesignated as the Good Samaritan Hospital, Augusta Memorial Hospital, City Hospital, Mound Park Hospital, and finally, in 1968, Bayfront Medical Center.
Bayfront, in its Mound Park Hospital form, was mentioned in the
