The brewery produces
cask ale s, though are better known for their cold filtered bottled beers. The distinctive oval shape of the bottle is based on an 18th century gin bottle, which had been originally made for an innkeeper on theDelaware River . John Murphy, the owner, founded Interbrand - the marketing consultants, and is a professor of marketing at a British university. He has said, "I know about international branding and marketing. That is the vision behind St Peter's."Availability
The cask ales are available to pubs on the free trade, beer festivals and the brewery's pub in
Clerkenwell ,London , "The Jerusalem Tavern".The bottled beers are widely available from Waitrose, Majestic Wines, ocado and ASDA stores nationally, 285 Sainsbury's stores throughout the UK, Booths in the north west, Roy's of Wroxham branches and Tesco in selected stores mainly in East Anglia as well as various farm shops, beers shops, mail order shops and the brewery's online shop.
The beers
The brewery produces around twelve regular beers plus another six seasonal. St Peter's is well known for its Organic beers. St. Peter's Organic Ale was awarded the Soil Associations Silver Medal in the drinks category in their Organic Food Awards 2006. The company wins many awards and accolades for its' beers. In November 2007, the Independent newspaper conducted a blind tasting by a panel of judges of bottled beers and lagers to creat a 'Top 50 beers' list and St. Peter's India Pale Ale was voted overall winner. Cream Stout and Old Style Porter are popular in America. Cream Stout was voted one of the Top 50 beers in the world in 2006 and has won the International Beer Competition, Porters and Stouts category, in 2006, 2004 & 2003. The cask version of Old Style Porter won the
Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Champion Beer of Suffolk in 2005 and took bronze in the CAMRA Winter Beer Festival held in Manchester in January 2007. St. Peter's Grapefruit Fruit Beer won a bronze medal in Speciality Beer Category at the Great British Beer Festival in August 2007. Details of other awards are shown on the company's website.
