The World Can't Wait

The World Can't Wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime! (WCW) is a left-wing group in the United States. According to its mission statement, by organizing people living in the United States, WCW seeks "to create a political situation where the Bush administration's program is repudiated, where Bush himself is driven from office, and where the whole direction he has been taking U.S. society is reversed." WCW levies many accusations against the Bush Administration, including: the Iraq war, alleged prisoner abuse and torture in the interrogation of military detainees and the alleged abrogation of their rights to habeas corpus, domestic wire-tapping and surveillance activities ordered personally by the President, what it sees as the administration's incompetence in response to Hurricane Katrina, and the Administration's support for anti-abortion legislation which they claim has a basis in the goals of the Christian Right.

World Can't Wait was formed in January 2005. Its headquarters is in New York City. It was initiated by supporters of the Revolutionary Communist Party, including Sunsara Taylor and Travis Morales. World Can't Wait's steering committee includes a broader array of political affiliations. Its call for Bush's removal has attracted a diverse range of endorsers which include members of the Green and Democratic party.

* May 12, 2006: Demonstration at Wachovia Stadium to protest Battle Cry.

* February 17, 2007: "Emergency Summit to Impeach Bush for War Crimes" was held in New York City, with speakers including Cindy Sheehan and Rebecca Rotzler.

Criticism

Some leftists have claimed that World Can't Wait slogans such as "Drive Out the Bush Regime" "have effectively served as a 'radical' coat of paint on the more mainstream liberal call to impeach Bush."
